DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the building principal, special education teacher, and Supervisor of Special Education, the Special Education Aide will assist with the educational development of children with special needs by ways of one-on-one instructional and non-instructional support.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3-5 years successful classroom experience preferred
- Non-violent crisis training (CPI) certification preferred
- Associates Degree or MDE approved testing
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with students with emotional impairments, cognitive impairments, and/or physical disabilities, or equivalent experience preferred
- Willingness to be trained in CPR, Non-violent Crisis Intervention techniques, and necessary medical procedures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide non-instructional support of student(s)
- Assist in supervision of students
- Provide academic, one to one support for student
- Provide individual and small group instruction, when applicable
- Demonstrate initiative and creativity with student(s) and their program
- Provide non-instructional health and behavior support of student as outlined in IEP, including any personal care needs
- Adhere to district health and safety procedures
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the principal and/or supervisor
