Job Goal: To assist the head softball coach and be in charge of the JV softball team and to help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, develop an appreciation for the values of discipline, sportsmanship and increase level of self-esteem.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated successful accomplishments as JV Softball Coach in high school.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of softball.
- A commitment to provide student/athlete with a positive sport experience.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful experience coaching at the high school level (Varsity preferred).
- Successful experience as a player at the high school/college level.
- Hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with the varsity softball coach and athletic director.
- Assist with off-season strength and conditioning program.
- Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
- To attend the appropriate meetings pertaining to softball as scheduled by the Michigan High School Athletic Association and the school, i.e., rules, clinics, scheduling meetings, etc.
- To assume responsibility for maintaining an accurate inventory of equipment pertaining to the sport.
- To assume responsibility for supervision, safety and welfare of students participating in the program before, during and after scheduled practices and competitive contests.
- To assume responsibility for submitting requests for transportation forms to the Athletic Director.
- To assist the Athletic Dept. in planning and organization of promotion and participant recruitment and recognition programs pertaining to the sport.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Administration.
- To have a comprehension of new MHSAA practice policies and effectively integrate them into practice plans. Applicants must also maintain accordance with MHSAA concussion training and heat and humidity policies.
