POSITION: School Bus Driver
Full-Time and Substitute Positions Available
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Starting Hourly Rate: $19.10

- $500 Sign-on Bonus (payable on completion of certification and 90 days of employment)

Job Summary: Provides bus transportation services for students including special events and athletic events, ensuring transportation system and passenger safety. Monitors equipment and performs limited maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years or older; prior bus driving experience preferred
- Possession of a valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drives a district-owned bus, providing safe and efficient transportation
- Performs routine vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and water and tire pressures
- Maintains records of work performed; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Records maintenance skills
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
- Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels
- Ability to operate a loaded passenger bus safely and efficiently
Conditions of Employment:
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- As a CDL driver, the employee will be required to comply with all provisions of DOT Regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382, including random drug and alcohol testing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
