PURPOSE: The Academic Interventionist provides academic support designed to broaden, extend and deepen the learning experience for identified at-risk students. This support is provided to students in flexible, small groups during the Intervention/Enrichment instructional period. Students receiving this support are determined by the classroom teacher, assessment data, and grant requirements. The Interventionist facilitates the instructional experiences to use with these students that meet their specific learning goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Complete at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or
- Obtain an associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution; or
- Passed and approved MDE assessment in the following areas:
- Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or
- Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring.
- Provide consistent behavior and engagement monitoring for small group instruction.
- Provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a teacher.
- Perform other duties as assigned
